CrossFit is a fitness regimen developed by Greg Glassman over several decades. Glassman, CrossFit's Founder and CEO, was the first person in history to define fitness in a meaningful, measurable way: increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. He then created a program specifically designed to improve fitness and health.
CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.
Overall, the aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness supported by measurable, observable and repeatable results. The program prepares trainees for any physical contingency—not only for the unknown but for the unknowable, too. Our specialty is not specializing.
While CrossFit challenges the world's fittest, the program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual, regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change the program. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.

Typical Gyms and Fitness Centers are full of various machines, some weights, and maybe even a basketball or racquet ball court (Maybe even a pool if they're fancy!) After whooing potential members with shiny toys and "perks", they sign people up on memberships and then poof! The friendly and over-eager staff that promised to help change lives are gone, and the new member is now left to figure it all out on their own. Soon, the once motivated individual who wanted to change their life, loses interest in going to a sterile environment without any guidance on HOW to approach true change, then stops going to the gym. And THAT'S how these gyms want it! They set you up on easy memberships with the promise that you'll have everything that you could ask for to help you get in shape, and then they leave you alone to your own devices. They count on you to not show up, the less members who show up regularly, the less they have to spend on upkeep of their equipment and facilities. And all the while, your monthly dues are pulled from your bank account, until you lose all hope and cancel.
That is NOT the recipe for success! In order to strive in anything that we do, we need a support system to help guide us, to motivate and encourage us, we need to surround ourselves with people who are passionate about inner-change like us, and we need someone to show us the tools that we need to succeed and how to use them. That's where our community at CrossFit Conyers Stonecrest comes in!
From the moment you walk through one of our large opened bay doors, you'll be greeted either by one of our Coaches, or fellow Athletes. You will never be left alone to figure things out.
Each 1hr class is led by a friendly, trained and certified Coach, and they will carefully guide the class by discussing the Workout Of the Day (WOD) and the movements of the workout. This will also be the time when modifications will be discussed. Each WOD is written for different skill & experience levels so that everyone can participate safely. After the WOD briefing, the Coach will then put the class through a group warm up with the intent to prime their mind and bodies for the work ahead. After the class is warmed up, the Coach will then guide their class through the given WOD, whether there's a weightlifting piece, or conditioning, the Coach will always be there to teach and encourage you. After the WOD, everyone laughs and smiles (while gasping and sweating!) and share high-fives.

First of all, you can start CrossFit no matter your current health & fitness level, disability, or size. Everything that we do is safely scalable to the individual. If you have an athletic background, GREAT! If you don't have an athletic background, that's GREAT TOO!
We invite you to stop on by for a free one-on-one intro session and scope us out. If you like what you see, and how you feel (which we promise that you will), then your next step would be to attend our Passport Classes where a Coach will teach you the various movements and their modifications that you'll perform in our box (That's what we call our "Gym")
